Rolling green South Downs near Glyndebourne

Glyndebourne · Festival & Tour

Glyndebourne, curtain to car.

The opera house is one of the great nights out in England. Getting there and back shouldn't be the hard part.

Off the train

Arriving at Lewes or Glynde? We meet the train and take you straight to the house, picnic and all.

Curtain to car

Your return is booked before the performance. When the final curtain comes down, your driver is already there.

Back to your bed

Home, to your hotel or to the last train. In evening dress, after a long interval, that last part matters.

Getting to Glyndebourne

Glyndebourne sits in the Downs between Lewes, Glynde and Ringmer, at the end of narrow country lanes. Performances start in the afternoon or early evening, and there's a long interval for the famous picnics on the lawns.

Most visitors come by car or by train to Lewes. From Lewes station it's about 15 minutes by taxi; from Glynde station it's about five. We know the approach well and drop you right at the house.

Going home

The end of the night is when a pre-booked car really pays off. Every guest leaves at once, and the lanes are dark. Book your return when you book your outward trip and tell us roughly when the performance ends. We'll be waiting.
